Tyndale Primary School

Year 3

Dear Parents/Carers,

We’d like to inform you that in line with government guidance, we are expecting all pupils to return for the start of the autumn term from Thursday 3rd September 2020.

The latest guidance can be found here.

Safety Precautions

At Tyndale Primary, we have and always will, prioritise the health and safety of our pupils, parents and staff. Please find below the safety precautions in place to minimise the risk of transmission:

  • We have planned for all pupils to be allocated to year group ‘bubbles’ so that we can track and trace contact easily.
  • Bubbles will be kept separately and the staff moving between bubbles will be minimised.
  • The school timetable has been amended to allow staggered start and finish times (please be prompt in following these to minimise the risks of transmission).
  • There is a one-way system in place on the school site to enter and exit (it is expected that all year group parents and pupils always follow this route to ensure the safety of all).
  • Regular hand washing has been timetabled.
  • There are hygiene stations in every classroom and at regular intervals around school.
  • Classroom layouts have been adapted to ensure all pupils are facing the front and in rows.
  • Classrooms have minimal furniture to increase the space available inside.
  • Pupils will be allocated their own stationary to limit the sharing of resources.
  • Adaptations to the curriculum have been made to address any gaps in knowledge, whilst maintaining a broad and balanced coverage.
  • PE lessons will take place outside, where possible.
  • Assemblies will be streamed into classrooms to avoid large gatherings.
  • Break and lunchtimes have been staggered with allocated areas for each bubble during unstructured times.
  • An enhanced cleaning programme to cover all areas of school.

We understand that these changes might be slightly different to ‘normal’ school, but from our experience of pupils who have already returned, the children adapt to ‘the new normal’ very quickly. Please find below the expectations, which will be reinforced in September:

  • All pupils are expected to be in full school uniform, all day, every day – our uniform policy can be found here.
  • Attendance to school (on time) from the autumn term for all year groups is now compulsory. Our attendance policy can be found here.
  • If your child is displaying any signs of being unwell, please inform the school office and keep your child at home.
  • Reading at home daily is still a basic expectation at Tyndale, please find more information here.
  • Our high expectations of behaviour still apply and are needed more than ever to keep all pupils, parents and staff safe. We completely appreciate the need to support the transition of all pupils back to school and there are PSHE lessons regularly timetabled to address any worries. Our behaviour policy (amended for Covid-19) can be found here.

One-Way System

  • All parents and pupils will be expected to enter the school site via the green pedestrian gate off Cranleigh Court.
  • There will be no entrance to the school site via the car park either on foot or by car.
  • All pupils and parents will use the route via the KS1 pedestrian side gate (KS2 gates will be locked), and follow the one system to your class entry points.
  • All parents and pupils in all year groups will exit the school site via the gates at the top of the site next to the community hub (outside Year 4 classroom, beyond bike shed)
  • Leadership members of staff will be visible to direct you.
  • All classrooms will have an allocated queueing area to be used for both drop off and pick up times to ensure social distancing at all times.

Year 3 Start Time: 8.50am

Year 3 Finishing Time: 3.30pm

Entrance to Classroom: KS2 site (first door on your right – previous coded door)
